Arts & Culture
Blacksburg, long recognized for its engaging history and dynamic arts scene, has been steadily transforming into Southwest Virginia’s premier arts and culture destination.
A classic example of a versatile, creative economy sustaining momentum, the town is as passionate about the arts as it is proud of its diverse heritage—and visitors can tangibly experience those sentiments in any number of Blacksburg venues.
With storefronts occupied by galleries, a near-legendary Art Deco movie theater screening films and hosting live events and community programming, the Moss Arts Center downtown and the university’s School of Performing Arts and Cinema offering both traditional and original productions, Blacksburg is truly alive with the arts.
In light of the town’s various performance venues, cultural opportunities, and historic locales, as well as the multitude of regional organizations committed to serving the area’s arts and cultural interests, you’ll need time to take in all the diversions that Blacksburg has to offer.
And we’re hard-pressed to think of a better way to fill the hours.
