The Lyric Theatre
A beloved community treasure, The Lyric Theatre opened in 1930 in the heart of downtown Blacksburg on College Avenue. One of the very-first movie houses in Virginia to screen “talking pictures,” the Art Deco landmark has since undergone multiple renovations and restorations and is listed on both the Virginia and the National Register of Historic Places. Since 1998, The Lyric has operated as a not-for-profit movie theatre and community center, hosting live performances and educational programs, presenting regular feature films and encouraging residents to partner with or rent the venue for community events.
