The VTCRC employs over 3,000 employees and is home to over 180 research, technology and support companies. Currently, there are 33 single- and multi-tenant buildings located within the VTCRC. They are in the process of undergoing an expansion on the northwest side of the park where an additional 15 buildings will be built.

The purpose of the North Main Street at Route 460 project is to enhance safety. This will be done by constructing a restricted crossing U-turn along Route 460 at the intersection of North Main Street and Farmingdale Lane.
This project will replace the signalized intersection at Route 460 and Southgate Drive at the entrance to Virginia Tech with a diverging diamond interchange. The new interchange will eliminate one of the last two at-grade intersections on the Blacksburg Bypass section of Route 460.
The Hill, Blacksburg's Municipal Golf Course, began renovation in July 2017 and is expected to be complete in late spring of 2018.
