Blacksburg has seven public schools that are part of the Montgomery County Public School System; five elementary, one middle school and one high school. Each school is fully accredited based on the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Standards of Learning. In addition to the outstanding public schools, there are also several private schools and three institutions of higher education in the region.
